Initial Layout
So you have created a test site or signed up for our service and are about to proceed and make a real site? Here are a few tips to help you on your way.
The Layout and Navigation
The first thing you will probably want to do is customize the site layout unless you decide to use one of our default layouts without modifications. If you decide to use a default layout as a starting point and just change the colors and the header graphic, your site's layout should be done in no time. Alternatively you could create a totally new layout of your own and upload it into the system for a unique and individual look and feel. Anything's possible with Editsite.
If you have a website template you would like us to intergrate for you into Editsite, we charge a one-time fee of $150.
Choosing the layout
We have a selection of ready made templates to choose from and more will be added later. Just choose one and modify it to suit your needs or simply use it without modifications, the choice is yours.
Changing the layout
You can change the layout by clicking on your chosen template and then clicking save, it's really is that easy.
Customizing the layout
You probably want to change the header graphics and maybe some of the blocks on your site's left or right column. Click the Edit tab when in the layout editor and you can customize your site's layout.
Customizing the navigation
Layouts contain things like navigation. Some of them have a pull-down menu like Editsite.net has on the top. Some of them have the navigation on the right or left. You can play with the default layout to see what kind of navigation you want on your site.
The Header Graphic
The header graphic may need to be of a certain width and height in order to fit a particular layout. Here's a bunch of header graphics to choose from — they will fit into some of the layouts we provide.
Changing the header graphic
Locate the header block on the layout editor (it's on the top), click Change image and upload the new image and the header image is replaced.
Fre stock photography
For example these sites offer good quality photographs for making your own graphics. Some, or most, of the photos can be used freely, but check the terms on each photo you plan to use.
