this post is just to let you all know that when you sign up for editsite, you are not only signing up for hosting with a built in CMS but also top class service that you would be hard pushed to find anywhere else.
Ilkka stands 100% behind his product and is always there when you need him.
I have found though that editsite is intuitive and most of the settings are straight forward and easy to find but if and when you can't work things out, Ilkka is always there to point you in the right direction.
Finally I would just like to remind you all that you can always sign up for a test account, which will cost you nothing, but be prepared to get your check book out at the end of the test account period because once you have tried editsite there is no turning back.
What's also invaluable, is the feedback I've received, because that's one part that makes this service as good as it is. Of course my aim is to have the best service for the target groups I'm aiming at and I think I'm on a good track here. And every little question helps me to improve the software, so I really like to think about the problems that people have had.
I have also learnt a great deal through this process, and I guess it's like life - at the start you are very confident and think you know and can do anything and everything, and once you've done it, you know your limits a bit better and be a little more humble :-) So this is partly what has happened too. Like a growing process but professionally.
I've been scouring the net for a few weeks trying to find the perfect WYSIWYG editor either online or offline and editsite.net looks as though it might meet my requirements perfectly.
However, I've just signed up for a free account and find when I tried to change the colour of Heading1 in the CSS (h1), the change is not reflected on my page although the change is showing in the CSS code.
I took a look - it may be that you just need to reload (Ctrl-R) the page. After you are done editing the CSS (either live or traditional) it's always good to refresh/reload to be sure.. (I saw the heading as blue).
Happy to hear that this service might meet your requirements, let me know if there are something that needs changing/adding? Requests are always welcome.
I looked at my site on another computer and it showed the correct heading colour. However, when I made a heading colour change (to yellow) on the new computer it doesn't show. So it seems the problem is that the change simply doesn't show on the computer where it is made. Very weird, huh? I cannot see any button to refresh.
Ok, the new info helped a bit. I think this is actually pretty straightforward, if I'm not completely mistaken. I didn't take into account that you were also working on the page editor.
The technical reason for all this is the browser cache. There are ways to overcome this little annoyance but I wouldn't really want to go there - that would slow down the application a little bit, and this issue doesn't come up every day.
The solution to this - I'm pretty sure - is that you have to refresh the stylesheet on your website, not on the editor. On your site Ctrl-R will work (at least on most browsers). That's where I meant to use the refresh. Sorry about not being clear about this.
And after you have refreshed the stylesheet, then when you open the editor again, you should see the correct color.
I wish users wouldn't have to learn more than they really need. But to help this, I think I will put a message somewhere (on the application) that when the stylesheet is changed, it's good to refresh the website.
Thanks for the feedback - it helps to make the software better. One bit at a time :-)
In good hands

Hi Ilkka,
Ctrl-R gives me Find.

Hi again Petra,

Hi Ilkka,
Thanks for that. I noticed you've got a pop up message directing people to refresh.
Can I delete the word "Pages" from the navigation and "Recent Posts", "Discussion" and the Search box?

Petra

Hi Petra,
Yes you are free to edit everything on your site, including blocks.
There will be some tutorials at some point how to write own blocks...
