So how does this work?
Editsite.net is web hosting with a built in web application (CMS) which you use to maintain your website. You will probably want to use your own domain for your site (example www.yourdomain.com), or alternatively you can use a subdomain of editsite.net, ie. yoursite.editsite.net.
Domain name registration
Editsite.net doesn't offer domain name registration services so if you are going to use your own domain name you will have to pay the yearly fees (about $8/year for .com domains) and organize registration of a domain name yourself. We've always been happy with GoDaddy.com and we have heard that eurodomains.com offers a good service but these are purely suggestions.
Why don't you register domains?
That's not our core business and therefore others can do it cheaper and better. We also feel that it's better for you if you control your domain entirely. Your domain is your own property which you should take care of just like any other property.
I have a domain, how can I use it with your service?
In your domain's settings, just set the DNS servers to ns1.editsite.net and ns2.editsite.net and that's it. You can do this yourself with a web based front end or you can ask your registrar to do it for you. When you are ready, subscribe to one of our plans (it doesn't hurt if you subscribe first, then set the DNS) and away you go.

What types of payments do you support?
Currently only PayPal. To sign up for an automatic subscription you need a verified PayPal account and if you only have an unverified account you can always signup to a yearly plan and simply make an annual payment.
Can I upgrade or downgrade the service I have?
Yes - at any time and with no extra cost. Just send us an email.
What if I want to quit?
You can quit at any time and you will only billed for the current period (month/year). There are no hidden costs! You can always get all the contents from your site by exporting them in a suitable format, there are various export options to choose from.
What browser can I use to update the site?
Mozilla based browsers (Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Camino, etc...) and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 are all supported. Of course, the site you create can be viewed with almost any browser - even text based or older browsers. We find that mozilla based browsers work the best for us so our recommendation goes out to Firefox!
How about the support?
We are always here if you need support, you can use our support forums to leave questions for our support team or alternatively you could email us if you prefer.
So this is a hosted service, right?
That's right. You don't need to install anything what so ever, everything runs on Editsite's servers, the only thing will need to create your website is a browser and we also ensure that all your data is safely backed-up every 24 hours.
Where are your servers located?
Currently we only have servers located in the United States. That means that generally the best performance will be achieved by your website visitors/users located in the U.S but the speed difference is minimal and generally go un-noticed.
Can we install this on our server if we want to?
Maybe! Let's work out a deal.
How do I change the layout and design of the site?
You simply choose one of our basic layouts and then customize it using our intuitive layout editor and CSS editor and that's it. If you want to do a lot of customizing some basic CSS and HTML skills are helpful. If you only want to make minor changes you can have a look at our F.A.Q. where you will find some helpful tips to get you going.
I have a layout of my own I would like to use, can I use it?
Yes, you can import it into the system or we can do it for you for a modest fee (standard fee $150 per layout).
What are Projects?
Projects are sections on your site that provide various behavior. For example "normal web pages", photo albums, blogs, news, etc... You can combine different types of projects to make your site totally individual and just the way you want it.
How secure can I make my site?
You can make your site as secure as you like, intranet's or extranet's are both possible with Editsite.net. For example, let's assume you want to create an intranet for internal communications and files. You simply create an intranet, assign priveledges to users and then only users with the correct priviledges will be able to see the intranet, other people will only be able to see the public site and will never know that an intranet even exists.
What about the files?
Even the files are secured. If a file lies inside your intranet, nobody can access it without the proper permissions. Even if such a person guesses the right URL for that file, he will not be able to see or download it, unless he has the proper permissions set and is logged onto the site.
I don't want to play around with domains. Can I use myname.editsite.net?
Yes.
I don't want to host my entire domain (www.mydomain.com) at Editsite.net. Can I host only a subdomain of it?
Yes. You can host intranet.mydomain.com, at Editsite.net. You will have to add that record to your DNS and we will take care of the rest. The fees are the same as with normal hosting.
What are your future plans?
We are constantly improving the Editsite.net service and further enhancing the current features. We even plan to add some bigger features along the way—that's our plan at least! We hope to grow with our users, and we always appreciate feedback from you.
